FOR MEETING OF: 5/25/76
ITEM TITLE: Resolution Approving Computer Facilities Management Contract
#8176
SUBMITTED BY~ City Attorney
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The attached agreement is a contract between EDP Management, Inc. and the
City of Chula Vista. It provides basically for the management and operation
of the data processing facility by personnel employed by EDP. EDP, in
supervising the data processing facility, will be acting as an independent
contractor. The contract, as can be seen, is quite lengthy, but it can
be broken down into these basic obligations:
1. The City is obliged to pay EDP $2,300. per month for EDP's
services and additionally provide EDP 40 hours usage of the
City's computers for development of systems for EDP's private
clients.
2. EDP is obliged to see that all of the operational programs
listed in Exhibit "B"s pages i through v, are run and maintained
in the proper fashion to provide such data as is necessary fox
the various users. These programs include the running of programs
for other municipal entities such as the payrolls for Imperial
Beach and El Cajon. Additionally, EDP is obliged to provide the
City with 80 hours of work in the area of systems development
and programming each month, at no additional charge.

3. EDP, if it wishes to utilize more than 40 hours of computer
time on the City's facility during a month, is obliged to pay
the City $30. per hour for the use of such computer time.
The contract is designed to be flexible and allow the City to meet
a fluctuating demand for data processing services. Due to the good
rapport between EDP Management and the City, it is hoped that we
will be able to increase our utilization of the City's data proces-
sing facilities and achieve savings which would not otherwise be
possible.
