HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Statement 1976/05/25 Item 12K V ~ CITY OF CHULA VISTA STEM NO. - 12 '~ ' - "~ COUNCIL AGENDA STATEMENT •~ -y' FOR MEETING OF: 5/25/76 ITEM TITLE: Resolution Approving Computer Facilities Management Contract #8176 SUBMITTED BY~ City Attorney ITEM EXPLANATION: The attached agreement is a contract between EDP Management, Inc. and the City of Chula Vista. It provides basically for the management and operation of the data processing facility by personnel employed by EDP. EDP, in supervising the data processing facility, will be acting as an independent contractor. The contract, as can be seen, is quite lengthy, but it can be broken down into these basic obligations: 1. The City is obliged to pay EDP $2,300. per month for EDP's services and additionally provide EDP 40 hours usage of the City's computers for development of systems for EDP's private clients. 2. EDP is obliged to see that all of the operational programs listed in Exhibit "B"s pages i through v, are run and maintained in the proper fashion to provide such data as is necessary fox the various users. These programs include the running of programs for other municipal entities such as the payrolls for Imperial Beach and El Cajon. Additionally, EDP is obliged to provide the City with 80 hours of work in the area of systems development and programming each month, at no additional charge. EDP, if it wishes to utilize more than 40 hours of computer time on the City's facility during a month, is obliged to pay the City $30. per hour for the use of such computer time. The contract is designed to be flexible and allow the City to meet a fluctuating demand for data processing services. Due to the good rapport between EDP Management and the City, it is hoped that we will be able to increase our utilization of the City's data proces- sing facilities and achieve savings which would not otherwise be possible.
