Dear Ms. Robens:
The City of Chula Vista has the responsibility of selecting, on a two-year
rotation basis, a representative from a regionally recognized organization
whose aim is the protection and conservation of the natural environment
to serve on the Bayfront Conservancy Trust (BCT). The BCT is a public
non-profit organization that was formed in 1986 to implement the
environmental management goals and objectives of the City's Local Coastal
Program. In addition, the BCT Board of Directors is responsible for the
operation of the Nature Interpretive Center.
The BCT is governed by an eleven-member Board of Directors. The Articles
of Incorporation and By-Laws for the BCT are enclosed for your information.
The term of office for the director from an environmental organization
is two years. Representatives from the San Diego Chapter of the Audubon
Society served on the board from 1986-1988. The seat for the Director
representing an environmental organization is now vacant and I am anxious
to have it filled.
With your concurrence, the City Council of the City of Chula Vista would
like a representative from the South Bay Group of the Sierra Club to serve
on the BCT. The BCT currently meets bimonthly on the fourth Tuesday at
1:30 p.m. at the Nature Interpretive Center. I look forward to hearing
from you as soon as possible to discuss the activities of the BCT and hope
that you will favorably consider appointing a representative to serve on
the Board of Directors.
Sincerely,
Gregory R. Cox
