American Building Arts, Incorporated, the owner of the property lying
adjacent to Melrose Avenue and Otay Valley Road has submitted a prelimi-
nary tentative map for a Subdivision to be known as Vista Homes Sub-
division. There are existing overhead utilities within Melrose Avenue
within the boundaries of the proposed subdivision.
On July 8, 1977, Toups Corporation, the engineer of work, on behalf of
their cliant, American Building Arts, Incorporated, and in accordance with
Section 15.32.040 of the Chula Vista Municipal Code submitted a request
to defer the requirement of undergrounding the existing overhead utilities
along Melrose Avenue within the boundaries of the subdivision.
Section 15.32.040 of the Chula Vista Municipal Code requires that the
City Council conduct a public hearing to hear persons speak in favor of
or object to a request to defer the undergrounding of the existing over-
head facilities.
Engineering staff is recommending that a public hearing be held at 7:00 p.m.
in the City Council Chambers on September 6, 1977. At the public hearing,
Engineering staff will include a report in the Agenda Statement setting
forth their findings and recommendations regarding the request for deferral
of undergrounding existing overhead facilities.
