RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA THAT DURING THE DEVELOPMENT OF
THE FISCAL YEAR 2011/2012 BUDGET CONSIDERATION
BE GIVEN TO RETENTION OF POLICE OFFICERS SUBJECT
TO LAYOFF AFTER MAY 9, 2011
WHEREAS, on April 6, 2011, the Public Safety Sub-Committee, consisting of
Councilmembers Steve Castaneda and Patricia Aguilaz, discussed the impact of the City's budget
on Chula Vista Police Department staffing levels; and
WHEREAS, as a result of those discussions, the Public Safety Sub-Committee prepared
three recommendations, as stated in its April 13, 2011 memo; and
WHEREAS, the Public Safety Sub-Committee presented those recommendations to City
Council on April 19, 2011; and
WHEREAS, at the April 19, 2011 City Council meeting, Council voted to approve them
for formal Council action.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula
Vista does hereby resolve that during the development of the Fiscal Year 2011/2012 budget
consideration be given to retention of police officers subject to layoff after May 9, 2011.
