RESOLUTION NO.11180
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA APPROVING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA AND THE CITY OF IMPERIAL BEACH TO PROVIDE
FIRE/AMBULANCE DISPATCHING SERVICES FOR IMPERIAL
BEACH
AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Chula Vista that that certain agreement between THE
CITY OF CHULA VISTA, a municipal corporation, and THE CITY OF
IMPERIAL BEACH, to provide fire/ambulance dispatching services
for Imperial Beach
dated the ]st day of March , 19 83, a copy of which
is attached hereto and incorporated herein, the same as though
fully set forth herein be, and the same is hereby approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City of
Chula Vista be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to
execute said agreement for and on behalf of the City of Chula
Vista.

JOINT DISPATCHING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA AND THE CITY OF IMPERIAL BEACH
THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this 1st day
of March , 1983, by and between THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA,
a municipal corporation, and THE CITY OF IMPERIAL BEACH, a
municipal corporation;
WITNESSETH:
WHEREAS, effective March 1, 1983, the San Diego
Sheriff's Department will be assuming all law enforcement services
for Imperial Beach and receiving all 911 police, fire and
ambulance calls in their Communications Center, and
WHEREAS, each City is empowered by law to provide fire
services, which services are accomplished through radio dispatch
facilities operated by each City.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS MUTUALLY AGREED by and between the
parties hereto as follows:
Sect ion 1. Purpose.
This agreement is made pursuant to the provisions of
Article 1, Chapter 5, Divison 7, Title 1 of the Govern-
ment Code of the State of California commencing with
Section 6500. Each city possesses the powers referred
to in the above recitals. The purpose of this agreement
is to exercise these powers jointly in order to provide
a single dispatch system for the Chula Vista and
Imperial Beach Fire Departments.
Sect ion 2. Term.
This agreement shall become effective as of March 1,
1983 and shall continue in full force and effect through
June 30, 1983 unless appropriately amended by mutual
agreement of the parties or termination as provided
herein.
Section 3. Service to be Provided.
The City of Chula Vista shall provide through the City
of Chula Vista Police Department communication system
full dispatching services for the Imperial Beach Fire
Department fire station for fire/ambulance service to
provide appropriate direction and information for
responses by the Imperial Beach Fire Department to all
areas within the City of Imperial Beach.

"'Section 4. Departmental Obligations and "
-- Procedures.
It shall be the obligation of the Imperial Beach Fire
.... Chief and the Chula Vista Director of Public Safety, or
their designated representatives, to establlish appro-
priate procedures for the implementation of the program
to provide said centralized dispatching services and to
provide adequate training and information to the persons
under their direction to ensure the effective imple-
mentation thereof.
Section 5. Payment for Services.
The City of Imperial Beach hereby agrees to deliver to
the City of Chula Vista in lieu of payment for said ser-
vices an 10-channel recording unit, several portable
radios, and several Motorola Alert Monitors that can be
utilized in the City of Chula Vista's communication sys-
tem, which equipment has been appraised at a value of
$3,200, in payment for the four-month dispatching
services.
Sect ion 6. Effective Date.
The services to be provided pursuant to this agreement
shall commence and payment shall be made, as provided
hereinabove on March 1, 1983.
Section 7. Termination.
This agreement may be terminated upon thirty (30) days
written notice by either city. It is understood and
agreed that such notice shall set forth the reason for
requesting said termination and, during the thirty-day
period, the parties to this agreement shall meet to
attempt to satisfy the causes or reasons for the request
for termination in a manner mutually beneficial to the
parties.

agreement to be executed the day and year first hereinabove set
forth.
