HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1977-8777 RESOLUTION NO. 3777 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA URGING THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES TO SUPPORT AB 1876 ALLOWING THE CITY COUNCIL TO HOLD EXECUTIVE SESSIONS FOR APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS TO BOARDS, COMMISSIONS AND THE COUNCIL The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Chula Vista has, as a result of the Moscone Act, found that a free and open discus- sion of appointments to Boards and Commissions and to the City Council itself is no longer possible because of the elimination of executive session authorization in the process of making such appoint- ments, and TAHEREAS, the City Council strongly urges the League of California Cities to support AB 1876 (Bannai); provided, however, that said bill be amended to include appointments to fill vacancies on the City Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista that the League of California Cities be urged to strongly support an amended form of AB 1876. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of Chula Vista be, and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the League of Calif- ornia Cities.
