RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA GRANTING THE APPEAL OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION
APPROVAL OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE BONITA GLEN SPECIFIC
PLAN AND CONTINUING THE PROHIBITION AGAINST GAS
STATIONS AND CAR WASHES
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, on February 9, 1983, by a vote of 4-3, the
Planning Commission approved an amendment to the Bonita Glen Specific
Plan by adding gas stations and car washes to the list of permitted
uses, and
WHEREAS, the decision of the Planning Commission was
appealed to the City Council by Don O'Neal, and
WHEREAS, on March 15, 1983, the City Council heard the
appeal, and
WHEREAS, the existing land uses identified in the Specific
Plan are uses which can best serve this interchange offering the pub-
~ic a variety of services, and
WHEREAS, service stations/car washes could be detrimental
to the development of future buildings attempting to achieve a com-
patible architectural package including landscaping and access, and
WHEREAS, there is no clear demonstrated need for more
service stations in the affected area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Chula Vista does hereby grant the appeal of the Planning
Commission approval of an amendment to the Bonita Glen Specific Plan
the effect of which is to continue the exclusion of gas stations and
car washes.

RESOLUTION NO. PCM-83-2
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDING
TO THE CITY COUNCIL APPROVING AN AMENDMENT OF THE
BONITA GLEN SPECIFIC PLAN
WHEREAS, on June 14, 1977 the City Council adopted Resolution No. 8670
approving the Bonita Glen Specific Plan for the development of 8.74 acres at
the southwest quadrant of Bonita Road and 1-805, and
WHEREAS, on December 30, 1982 a request was submitted by Shell Oil
Company for an amendment to add service stations and car washes as permitted
uses within the Bonita Glen Specific Plan, and
WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission set the time and place for a public
hearing to consider an amendment to the permitted uses, and notice of said
hearing, together with its purpose, was given by the publication in a newspaper
of general circulation in the city at least ten days prior to the date of said
hearing, and
WHEREAS, a hearing was held at the time and place as advertised, namely
7:00 p.m., February 9, 1983, before the Planning Commission, and said hearing
was thereafter closed, and
WHEREAS, on February 9, 1983 the Planning Commission recertified the
environmental impact report, EIR-77-2, and considered the information in that
document as they reached a decision on the project, and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission determined that service stations and
car washes were appropriate and needed facilities for the Bonita Glen Specific
Plan, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Planning Commission recommends
that the City Council amend the Bonita Glen Specific Plan to include service
stations and car washes as permitted uses.
