RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA APPROVING AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT FOR OPEN SPACE
COORDINATOR, GARY WILLIAMS, AUTHORIZING AM INCREASE IN
WORKING HOURS, AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE
SAID AMENDMENT
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Chula Vista that that certain Amendment to Agreement
between the CITY OF CHULA VISTA and Open Space Coordinator, GARY
WILLIAMS, dated the 16th day of February, 1983, authorizing an
increase of working hours from half-time to three-quarter time, a
copy of which is attached hereto and incorported herein by
reference as if set forth in full, be, and the same is hereby
approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City of
Chula Vista be, and he is hereby directed to execute said
Amendment for and on behalf of the City of Chula Vista.

AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT FOR OPEN SPACE COORDINATOR
THIS AMENDED AGREEMENT, made and entered into this 16th
day of February, 1983, by and between THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, a
municipal corporation, hereinafter called "City", and GARY
WILLIAMS, hereinafter called "Contractor";
WITNESSETH:
WHEREAS, the City has heretofore on July 20, 1982 entered
into a contract with Gary Williams to act as an independent
contractor to coordinate the activities of the City's four open
space district contractors, financed through the ten special
assessmeent districts and administered by the City, and
WHEREAS, the Contractor has performed said coordination
and is now ready, willing and able to continue to provide such
expertise to protect the City's interest in the successful admin-
istration and operation of the open space districts' concept,
purpose and goals, and
WHEREAS, it is obvious that the previously agreed upon
half-time status of approximately twenty (20) hours per week is
not sufficient to adequately accomplish the duties as set forth in
this agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY AGREED BY AND BETWEEN THE
PARTIES AS FOLLOWS:
1. City hereby agrees to retain said Contractor to and
until June 30, 1983 unless said agreement is extended by mutual
consent.
2. Payment to Contractor:
Contractor shall be paid the sum of $1333.80 per month
payable at the end of each month commencing on January 31, 1983,
which would authorize a retroactive payment in the amount of
$443.80 for the month of January, 1983 based upon approximately
thirty (30) hours per week. Travel expense shall be reimbursed at
the rate of $90 per month for the balance of the contract.
3. Powers and Duties:
Contractor agrees to and shall have the power to:
A. oversee, inspect and administer grounds maintenance
contracts;
B. receive, investigate and resolve or evaluate
service complaints and requests;

C. keep records, prepare purchase requisitions and
reports;
D. enforce contract specifications;
E. research the usefulness and cost effectiveness of
new and alternative contract methods and
specifications;
F. make recommendations to minimize maintenance costs
through landscape design changes;
G. assist in budget preparations and planning;
H. advise contractors on horticultural subject such as
pest disease, irrigation, turf and plant material
management;
I. rate the performance of contractors;
J. read plans and specs; keep existing plans and specs
updated;
K. attend evening and/or weekend homeowners associa-
tion meetings;
L. assist with minor repairs and make emergency
repairs and may be required to supervise and plan
the activities of assigned employees; and,
M. maintain effective working relationships with the
public, other City departments and employees and
contractors.
4. Termination:
This amended agreement may be terminated by either the
Contractor or the Parks and Recreation Director upon provision of
thirty (30) days written notice.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have caused this
agreement to be executed the day and year first hereinabove set
forth.
