HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1989-15208 RESOLUTION NO. 15208 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT FOR UTILITY VAN WITH TELEVISION INSPECTION SYSTEM AND APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL FUNDS REQUIRED FOR THE PURCHASE The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the following four bids were received and opened at 3:00 p.m. on the 15th day of May, 1989, in the office of the Purchasing Agent of the City of Chula Vista for the purchase of one utility van with television inspection system: UNIT BIDDER PRICE SALES TAX AMOUNT Haaker Equipment Co. ~ 98,400 ~6,888.00 ~105,288.00 Pomona, CA Flexible Systems 101,424 7,100.00 108,524.00 Marina Del Rey, CA Cues, Inc. 105,900 7,413.00 113,313.00 Orlando, FL Telespector Corp. 123,891 8,672.37 132,563.37 Auburn Hills, MI WHEREAS, the low bid of Haaker Equipment Company with the Cherne television system does not meet specifications in that it does not have an automatic iris control, ampere meter to set pressure on cable controls and uses multiple conductor cable in place of single conductor and a field inspection showed the operator had problems with the camera transport which is very critical in operation of this type of equipment, and WHEREAS, Flexible Systems was contacted immediately after the inspection of the Cherne system to set up a demonstration of their TV system, but they demonstrated their system without the radial view camera and camera transport and the owner of the firm admitted that their radial view camera was still in the experimental stage and not operational and, therefore, does not meet bid specifications, and WHEREAS, the equipment bid by Cues, Inc. was inspected by the Acting Deputy Public Works Director/Operations, meets specifications and is acceptable and it is recommended that the bid for the Cues, Inc. unit be accepted, and -1- WHEREAS, it has been recommended that said contract be awarded to Cues, Inc. who has assured the City that he is a licensed vendor in the State of California and can produce an acceptable performance bond. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby accept said four bids, and does hereby award the contract for said utility van with television inspection system to Cues, Inc. in the amount of ~113,313.00 to be completed in accordance with the specifications as approved by the Director of Public Works of the City of Chula Vista. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Purchasing Agent of the City of Chula Vista be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute said contract for and on behalf of the City of Chula Vista. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the sum of ~3,313 is hereby appropriated from the Unappropriated Reserve of the Sewer Service Revenue Fund to supplement the ~110,000 budgeted in the CIP Special Sewer Fund for this purchase.
