HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1977-85591 RESOLUTION NO. 8559 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA ADOPTING AFFIRMATIVE ACTION GOALS FOR THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Chula Vista has heretofore adopted an Affirmative Action Policy to advance equal employment opportunities for minorities, disadvantaged persons, and the handicapped, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Chula Vista has heretofore adopted an Affirmative Action Program to implement the Affirmative Action Policy, and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish Affirmative Action Goals for the total City workforce to provide criterion against which progress in equal employment opportunity may be measured. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby adopt the Affirmative Action Goals, marked as Exhibit "A", attached hereto, and incorporated herein by reference as if set forth in full, which is intended to carry out the Affirmative Action Policy and the Affirmative Action Program heretofore adopted by the City. EXHIBIT A AFFIRMATIVE ACTION GOALS FOR THE TOTAL CITY OF CHULA VISTA WORKFORCE 1977-1982 It is the goal of the City of Chula Vista to encourage and accomplish increased employment of minorities and women throughout all job categories and compensation levels. While the Affirmative Action increases listed below as general goals provide a meaningful objective, it will be the City's obligation to conduct detailed analyses of its workforce, the availability of candidates in the labor force, areas of underutilization, and to, in the future, adopt additional specific goals to resolve discovered deficiencies. For the immediate purposes of monitoring the overall effectiveness of the City's efforts in the area of affirmative action, the following goals shall serve as the yardstick by w:iich the impact of the program will be measured. Goals shall be continually reevaluated against available census data and more detailed analysis of the availability of the targeted populations.
