ITEM TITLE Resolution 86 91: Adopting Building Valuation Schedule
SUBMITTED BY Director of Building and Housin
ITEM EXPLANATION
(4/5TH'S VOTE REQUIRED YES N0~)
A square footage valuation, with unit costs for frills, is established for each category of
buildings to provide a basis for collecting a permit fee. These valuations are provided to
the International Conference of Building Officials by Marshall and Stevens, valuation
engineers, and are based on the actual cost of constructing only the building.
We have been using the existing valuation schedule since July 1, 1975.
On May 25, 1977, the San Diego Chapter of I.C.B.O. discussed the proposed valuation schedule
and voted unanimously to urge all San Diego County jurisdictions to adopt the schedule by
July 1, 1977.
The San Diego Building Contractors Association has voiced no objections to the increased
valuations.
The Board of Appeals and Advisors, at their meeting of June 13, 1977, voted unanimously
to recommend to the City Council the adoption of the new valuation schedule, to become
effective July 1, 1977.
