These valuations are provided to the International Conference of Building Officials by Marshall and Stevens, valuation engineers, and are based on the actual cost of constructing only the building. We have been using the existing valuation schedule since July 1, 1975. On May 25, 1977, the San Diego Chapter of I.C.B.O. discussed the proposed valuation schedule and voted unanimously to urge all San Diego County jurisdictions to adopt the schedule by July 1, 1977. The San Diego Building Contractors Association has voiced no objections to the increased valuations. The Board of Appeals and Advisors, at their meeting of June 13, 1977, voted unanimously to recommend to the City Council the adoption of the new valuation schedule, to become effective July 1, 1977. The new valuation schedule would increase building valuations by approximately $3,762,283 (6.5%), thereby producing building permit revenues approximately $5222 per $1,000,000 building valuation.
