On April 18, 1978, the City Council authorized a ten-program series of concerts to be
held in Memorial Bowl during the summer, and directed staff to prepare a resolution
appropriating funds for this concert series.
A resolution is attached, appropriating $9,328 from the General Revenue Sharing Fund
to Account No. 100-0130-5451, to cover the cost of the concert series.
Also attached is a letter from Mr. Richard Bass, General Manager of the San Diego Symphony
Orchestra, confirming the performance of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, under the
direction of Andre Kostelanetz, on Sunday, August 27, 1978 at Memorial Bowl.

Dear Mr. Allen:
This letter will confirm performances of the San Diego
Symphony Orchestra in Chula Vista, conducted by Andre
Kostelanetz, under the auspices of the City of Chula
Vista on Sunday, August 27, 1978. The exact time of the
performance yet to be determined.
The production of the concert is the responsibility of the
San Diego Symphony Orchestra and its technical staff.
Responsibility for publicity and crowd control will be assumed
by your agency.
The fee for the concert is $6,000.00 (SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS),
payable following the performance.
You will shortly be advised of programs.
IMPOSSIBILITY OF PERFORMANCE: In the event that the perfor-
mance shall be prevented by act of God, physical disability,
the acts or regulations of public authorities, labor diffi-
culties, strike, civil tumult, war, epidemic, interruption or
delay of transportation service or any other cause beyond
their control, Conductor and Orchestra shall respectively be
relieved of their obligations with respect to the period
during which such performances shall be so prevented. The
San Diego Symphony Orchestra Association reserves the right
to cancel or reschedule such performances to the mutual
satisfaction of all parties.
If the foregoing meets with your approval, please sign and
return one copy for our files.

the violation of any of the provisions of the Charter of
the City of_ Chula Vista, or the Constitution or the laws
of. the State of California, that sufficient monies have
been appropriated for the purpose of said contract, that
sufficient monies to meet the obligations of the contract
are actually in the Treasury, or are anticipated to come
into the Treasury to the credit of the appropriation from
which the same are to be drawn, and that said monies now
actually in the Treasury, together with the monies antic-
ipated to come into the Treasury, to the credit of said
appropriation are otherwise unencumbered.
