COUNCIL AGENDA STATEMENT Item No. 11
For meeting of 2/28/78
ITEM TITLE Resolutio~90/'."Claiming $13,000 From FY 78 LTF Bicycle Funds
SUBMITTED BY City Manager '
ITEM EXPLANATION (4/5TH'S VOTE REQUIRED YES NO X )
In June 1977, CPO adopted the priority program for utilizing the region's 2%
TDA bicycle money for the current year and set aside $13,000 to assist in projects
identified in the bicycle air quality program.
Providing a "Maximum Bicycle System" is an air quality tactic identified in the
adopted San Diego Regional Air Quality Strategy Implementation Program and Schedule.
One of the products of this tactic is a popularized brochure aimed at the adult
commuter and promoting the bicycle as a viable transportation mode for the commute
trip. The brochure is now ready for publication. The brochure is supported by
all members of the CPO Bicycle Facilities Committee which has representation from
each city and the County.
CPO is requesting that the City of Chula Vista act as claimant for all the cities
and the County in the San Diego Region with the funds ($13,000) to be passed through
to CPO for actual printing and distribution of the brochure.
CPO can not claim the funds, only the member jurisdictions can. However,
CPO has agreed there will be no expense to the City for administration or auditing
of this claim.
