Huntington, Chairman/Parking Place Corrnnission ITEM EXPLANATION (4/5TH S VOTE REQUIRED YES xx NO ) For the past several meetings, the members of the Parking Place Commission have been discussing the need for increasing the parking meter rates in all of the City's off-street parking lots. This would eliminate "penny parking" and "all day parking" and convert all lots to a four-hour limit. At the regular meeting of the Parking Place Commission held January 10, 1978, the Corrmiission voted 5-0 to recommend the following: "Conversion of all spaces (332) in the off-street parking lots to a maximum four-hour limit at the rate of 5¢ for one hour, 10¢ for two hours and 25~ for four hours." This change in rates is estimated to increase revenue from the off-street parking lots from our present $200.00 per week average to $300.00 per week. The cost of meter parts to make these modifications is $2,500, including tax and shipping charges. There are funds available in the Parking Meter Fund to accomplish the meter conversions. Chairman Huntington will be present at the meeting to provide additional background information and to answer any questions the Council may have.
