NO x ) At th City C uncil meeting of October 24, 1978, the City Council accepted the bid of $6,900 fro Bill Meza Concrete for removal and replacement of the sidewalk at the Library. The proposal is to concrete over the present sidewalk level planters so as to prev nt moisture from penetrating underneath the sidewalk. The C uncil r quested that the staff make a study as to the cost of installing plan r boxes with enclosed bottoms. Bill Meza was requested to give us a price top vide tw lve 2'x4' planter boxes with sides extending six inches above the side alk surf ce and with enclosed bottoms. The prices given are for two methods whicf are cas in place and prefabricated and are as follows: Twel~re cast in place planters -------------------------------$2,950 Tweljj~re precast planters-------------------------------------- 2,590 It i staff o inion, that both methods submitted are very costly, and as such, we 1 oked at third method of building the planters using Construction and Repair person el. Material cost for planter installation by city forces are: 1. Concrete-----------------------------------------------------$ 600 2. Lum er for forming planters and other miscellaneous materials 500 3.
