CPO has requested City commitment to carry out the following activities to aid
lementing the Areawide Water Quality Management Plan:
a. Munici al Wastewater Facilities: Assist, through direct actions or support
of other agencies, in the construction of waste disposal and reclamation
facilities to satisfy the needs identified in the Plan. The facilities
listed in the Plan as annually updated will be the basis for detailed planning.
b. Er sion and Siltation Control: Review the City's grading ordinance and con-
sider any amendments needed to improve control of water quality as identified
in the model ordinance set forth in Appendix 4 of the Plan Summary.
c. Continuing Areawide Water Quality Planning Process: Participate in future
pl nning activities, including:
(1) preparation of the water resources plan, an element of the Areawide
Plan, by providing information on proposed water and wastewater programs
and requirements;
(2) biennial regional growth forecasts, by providing information on land
use and demographic changes and local policy;
(3 air quality attainment and maintenance plan, by assisting in the develop-
ment and implementation of mitigation measures that are consistent with
City policy.
d. S eyes of Influence: Provide assistance to the Local Agency Formation
Con mission in establishing and maintaining spheres of influence.
e. Sa Die o Ba Participate in an interagency water quality management
pr gram for San Diego Bay to be initiated by the Regional Water Quality
Co trol Board.
f. Pr ject Review in Frin a Areas: Cooperate with the County in developing
pr ce ures and in annua y providing information on the City's proposed
pr jects (for voluntary review) as well as comments on projects of other
ag ncies that may affect the City.

well this regi n is meeting federal air and water quality standards.
6. How th region's water resources are used will be one of the main determinants
of our future rowth and the quality of our environment. Therefore, it is important that
the City of Ch la Vista take part in shaping these important decisions.
