Item No. 16 For meeting of 11/21/7 8 ITEM TITLE SUBMITTED BY Resolution 9.~ / T Appropriating Funds for the of a Bus Turnout Lane on Broadway South of "E" City ITEM EXPLANATION Engi r via Director of Public Works Construction Street 1 ~/) ~ (4/5TH'S VOTE REQUIRED YES x NO ) At the meeting of September 26, 1978, a report was reviewed concerning the construction of a bus turnout lane on Broadway south of "E" to be constructed in conjunction with the redevelopment of the former Jaquett's Restaurant. Council approved the proposed bus turnout lane but directed that the developer not be required to experience any financial burden greater than which he would experience through developing the property without installing the bus turnout facility. Mr. Mark McLaren, developer, has met with me and we have tentatively agreed upon the following: The City of Chula Vista will provide the design and staking for the bus turnout and will install, with City forces, the paving to the north of the new curb line. The developer will perform all demolition, installation of curb, gutter and sidewalk, and the curb return section to meet the City drainage swale. The City will either install or pay the developer for the construction of a concrete slab for installation of a bench pad. In addition, the City will pay to Sickles, McLaren, and Associates the amount of $546.00. Cost for City forces to complete our portion of the improvement is approximately $2,000 for labor materials and equipment. This facility qualifies for LTBfunding and it is my recommendation that Council appropriate $2,550 from the transit service fund... We will, at a later date, request reimbursement from the LTF fund.
