X NO ) In 1977, Council approved carpet installation on one of the tennis courts in General Roca Park. The carpet was installed on an experimental basis by Collins and Aikman Inc. of Woodland Hills, CA. The carpet provided many hours of enjoyment to tennis players, but the heavy rains during the past two winter seasons caused the carpet to separate at the seams. Moreover, the prolonged dampness damaged the carpet to the point that adhesive would no longer make a bond between the carpet and the tennis court concrete. Consequently, the carpet had to be removed. The tennis court that had. been carpeted now requires sandblasting to remove the adhesive and surface refinishing. Staff has obtained informal bids in accordance with Section 1109 of the City Charter from the following firms for the required work: FIRM WORK BID Acme Sandblasting Co. Sand Blasting $2,393.00 A 1 Sand Blasting Co. Sand Blasting 595.00 Eastwood and Sons Court Refinishing 1,250.00 By using A 1 Sandblasting Company for the sandblasting and Eastwood and Sons for court refinishing, the total cost for the project is $2,030 including 1% for contingencies. It is noted that Eastwood and Sons is the firm that recently refinished the other City tennis courts. Staff recommends that a CIP Project be established for reconditioning and resurfacing the General Roca Tennis Court, and that Council make a special appro- priation from the unappropriated balance of the Parks Acquisition and Development Fund in the amount of $2,030 and authorize the transfer of this sum to the newly established CIP Project. ~ EXHIBITS Agreement Resolution X Ordinance Plat Notification List Other ENVIRONMENTAL DOCUMENT: Attached Submitted on FINANCIAL IMPACT Funds for the special appropriation are available in the unappropriated balance of the Parks Acquisition and Development Fund.
