ITEM TITLE Resolution 9~i ~9 approving agreement between the City of Chula Vista and the
Pekarek Group to provide architectural services for the renovation of Manorial
Park

Manorial Park, being in the Town Centre Redevelopment urea, requires certain remodeling at
the park's eastern end and along the park's northern boundary in order to bring the park
into conformance with the Town Centre Redeveloxxnent Plan. Conceptual plans for the eastern
end of the park have been prepared previously, and approved in concept by the City Council
and the Town Centre Project Area Committee. The amount of $75,000 has been budgeted in
Community Development Block Grant funds for development of the eastern portion.
The professional services of an architect are now required to prepare conceptual plans for
the northern boundary; to prepare a master plan that integrates both the eastern end and
the northern boundary areas; to prepare cost estimates for the northern boundary area; and
to prepare working drawings and specifications for the eastern end.
A Request for Proposals (RFP) was sent to landscape architectural firms requesting pro-
posals to provide these services. Six architectural firms made proposals to a staff archi-
tectural selection committee, which selected the Pekarek Group. The attached agreement
was then negotiated with the selected firm. The agreement provides the architectural ser-
vices needed to:
1. Prepare a conceptual plan for the northern. boundary which includes a park maintenance
and storage building.
2. Incorporate the present eastern end conceptual plans into an overall master plan for
the complete renovation of the park
3. Furnish working drawings and specifications needed for construction of the eastern
portion which includes the renovation of the taco stand which will serve as an infor-
mation and referral center
4. Furnish cost estimates for the entire project.
The costs for these architectural services are $14,900.

contract, that sufficient monies to meet the obligations of the
contract are actually in the Treasury, or are anticipated to come
into the Treasury to the credit of the appropriation from which
the same are to be drawn, and that said monies now actually in
