HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Statement 1979/06/26 Item 05bCITY OF CHULA VISTA ' COUNC I L AGENDA STATEMENT Item N°' 5b-- For meeting of 6-26-79 ITEM TITLE Resolution 76,3L- Approving MOU concerning wages and other terms and conditions of employment with the Chula Vista Chapter, Western Council of Engineers, for FY 1979-80 SUBMITTED BY City Manager ~_---~ ITEM EXPLANATION (4/5TH'S VOTE REQUIRED YES NO X ) The City's negotiating team has concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of the local chapter of the Western Council of Engineers. The agreement reached with this 9 member unit provides for the following salary increases: 1) 7Z% effective July 13, 1979 for all represented employees. 2) Effective January 11, 1980, increases as follows: Associate Civil Engineer - 5% Assistant Civil Engineer - 4% :7~nior Civil Engineer - 4% Plan Checker II - 32% 3) Effective July 13, 1979, one-half the cost of dependent coverage for hospital/medical care benefits will be provided this unit. 4) Under terms of the ~10U, all unit members in the employ of the City on June 30, 1979, will continue to receive 25% of all unused sick leave on honorable separation from the City up to a maximum of 30 days. New unit employees after June 30, 1979, will be permitted to convert 25% of their remaining yearly sick leave accruals to pay, or at their option, allow those unused days to accumulate. 5) All units in the City, including Western Council of Engineers, have agreed to pay for dues deductions on behalf of their membership in an amount not to exceed 4~ per member per pay period. This provision negotiated with all units will allow the City to recover estimated administrative costs incurred in making the deduc- tions and forwarding those funds to the representative associations.
