Renovation Project

On November 8, 1977, the City Council awarded the bid for renovation of the old post
office/library to Robert G. Fisher, Inc. in the amount of $1,983,000.
The project has been delayed by an unusual amount of rain, creating conditions whereby
exterior work on the project could not proceed according to schedule. The building,
however, is complete and is ready for acceptance so that the normal 35-day period
before final payment to the contractor can be made.
The 10% retained on the above contract bid amounts to $190,841.03. Of this total
amount, $24,567.80 represents the 10% retainer on outside work. A payment of $166,273.23
will be made following the expiration of 35 days after Council acceptance, with the
$24,567.80 retention held against outside improvements to be recommended for release
35 days after City Council accepts the outside improvements.
