COUNCTL ACTION ~~ ~~ 7 ~..~.z- Item No. 10 For meeting of 1-23-79 Supplemental Page 2 The installation of red curb on Fourth Avenue has improved the sight distance for vehicles (including police emergency vehicles) approaching on Davidson Street. The prohibition of parking on the south side of E. Orange Avenue between Loma and Larkhaven Avenues has minimized the problem of pedestrians jaywalking across E. Orange Avenue to the recreational facilities on the north side of the street from vehicles stopping or parking on the south side of the street. The removal of parking on "L" Street near First and Second Avenues was necessary to provide left turn lanes on this arterial street (in conjunction with traffic signal installation). The left turn lanes and elimination of parking have reduced the number of accidents occurring at these intersections by 60 percent. ( last yr. to this year The installation of red curb on Casselman Street near Broadway has facilitated vehicle movement on the substandard street (30 ft. curb to curb) near the intersection. All trial traffic regulations are functioning as intended and it is recommended that they be made permanent. ~~
