On Friday, October 17, 1986 the Tall Ship Californian will arrive at Chula
Vista Harbor. The event will mark the first appearance by the ship in its
Southern Home Port and will help kick-off the weekend of activities planned
for the Diamond Jubilee. Staff is working with the Chula Vista Quarterdeck
Committee and Diamond Jubilee Committee in an attempt to produce a high impact
event for the City's birthday. This report describes the tentative program
and the proposed budget for the event.

expenses relating to the Californian arrival ceremony.
BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable

The following program has tentatively been planned for the arrival ceremony:

October 17 to Southwestern Yacht Club.
2. VIP's will board the Californian and escort boat and depart the
Southwestern Yacht Club at 4:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served on
board both vessels.

for a future documentary on the Diamond Jubilee with camera crews
onshore and in an Astrea helicopter.

The group will stage a fashion show, set-up displays of 1850's
military paraphernalia, and fire authentic cannon in salute as the
