Under terms of the agreement, the services were to on September 1, 1981 and terminate 18 months later on March 1, 1983. Compensation 3,000 per month, not to exceed $54,000 for the full term of the contract. P1r. Gray ;he work required under the terms of the contract until May, 1982, when the Council the first amendment to the agreement which appointed him as Acting Director of upon the resignation of Mr. Jim Peterson. The first amendment to the agreement that his service as Acting Director of Planning would continue until the employment nanent Director, or a maximum of 6 months, whichever occurs first, at a compensation $3,300 per month. Our rece t action in deferring the recruitment process for a new Director of Planning requires a second amendment to the agreement to provide for the continued employment of Mr. Gray as Acting Director. It is therefore my RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council approve the resolution. )MMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: N.A. DISCUSSI The amen ed agreement again provides for Mr. Gray`s continued employment as Acting Director of Planning until a new Director is selected, or a maximum of s%x months, which- ever occ rs first. The only changes in the second amendment as proposed would be to raise the comp nsation level from $3,300 to $3,600 per month and to extend the term of the original agreement for the period Mr. Gray serves as Acting Director of Planning. This monthly ompensation is under contractual arrangements and therefore no additional expenses are incu red by the City for retirement benefit costs or other fringe benefits. The monthly ompensation, since fringe costs are not involved, is slightly less than Mr. Pet rson would have received had he remained in the City's employ. FINANCIAIL IMPACT SufficiE the terr ERA:mab • ~t funds are included in the Planning Department's budget to meet the cost under of the contract. Form A-113 (Rev. 11/79) ~;.
