I am writing to ask for the reappointment of Mr. Jerry Rindone as the City's representative on the MTS
Board of Directors. Mr. Rindone's continued participation on our Board will be critical for the agency as
we attempt to weather today's economic climate and fiscal uncertainty.
For twenty years Mr. Rindone has served Chula Vista well as its representative on the MTS Board. He
has achieved a level of leadership -- as Vice Chair of the Board (17 years), Chair of the Budget
Development and Finance Committees, and MTS appointee to SANDAG -- which has placed him in an
advantageous position to advance the cause of transit in Chula Vista and the Southbay. That
continued leadership has been a source of strength for our agency as we have developed our system.
I believe that essential projects, such as the Blue Line Trolley Renewal that is underway today, could
not have been achieved without the assistance of Vice Chairman Rindone.
Chula Vista and the entire region will benefit from Mr. Rindone's continued participation at MTS. His
combination of sound fiscal judgment and genuine care for the people of the South Bay and this
region will continue to promote a sustainable public transit system for the future. He has been a
persistent and effective advocate for Chula Vista. I urge you to reappoint Mr. Rindone to the MTS
Board so that we can continue together to serve the community's needs.
Respectfully Submitted,

Dear Honorable Mayor Cox and Councilmembers,
The Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce fully endorses the reappointment
of Commissioner Stephen Padilla for the position on the San Diego
Unified Porl District Board as the Representative for the City of Chula
Vista.
Commissioner Padilla's record for accomplishments for our City and the
Community are of great magnitude. Since the day of his appointment he
has hit the ground running. Commissioner Padilla was instrumental in the
Environmental Impact Report Certification, the decommissioning of our
timeworn South Bay Power Plant, and the approval of our critical Bayfront
land swap trade. Commissioner Padilla was able to accomplish these
great tasks while building understanding and consensus to the importance
of our Bayfront project.
Commissioner Padilla will serve this year as the Vice Chairman of the San
Diego Unified Port District. Based on all of his accomplishments in a short
period of one year, he will continue to ensure Chula Visla's influence
during this critical time for the continued leadership for our city. The City of
Chula Vista deserves a World Class Destination Bayfront. Your
reappointment of Commissioner Padilla will carry forward our efforts to
see this dream come to fruition.
We respectfully request your leadership in the reappointment of
Commissioner Stephen Padilla for a full term.
Sincerely,
Lisa Cohen
