On June 8, 1982, the residents of the unincorporated area of San Diego County known as
Montgom ry will be voting on the issue of annexation to the City of Chula Vista. If the
annexation vote is successful, the City, working with County and LAFCO staff, must submit
data re uired by the State Board of Equalization by June 15, 1982 in order for the
annexation to be processed and the appropriate sales tax revenues to be transferred
to Chul Vista.
RECOMME DATION: That the City Council:
1. Amend the Fiscal Year 1981-82 Budget and appropriate $800 from the unappropriated
balance of the General Fund to the Non-Departmental Fund and authorize staff to
remit to the State Board of Equalization an amount not to exceed $800 for the
processing of the Montgomery annexation.
BOARDS COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: N.A.
DISCUS ION
In ord r for the City of Chula Vista to qualify for monthly reporting sales tax revenues
for th month of July, it must have submitted to the State Board of Equalization via LAFCO
and th San Diego County Board of Supervisors by June 15, 1982 the following:
1 To the State Board of Equalization-Local Tax Unit: 2 maps of the annexation
showing all streets in the annexed area and the highest and lowest possible
street address number for each street.
2 To the State Board of Equalization-Evaluation Division:
a certified copy of the resolution from the Board of Supervisors
ordering the change in boundaries
a legal description of the boundaries
a map indicating the boundaries
a processing fee of $790
The ab ve data enables the State Board of Equalization to place the annexed area on
the ap ropriate property and sales tax recording roles, thereby insuring that the City
of Chu a Vista receives its entitled monthly reporting sales tax beginning in
July 1 82 (approximately $25,000 to $30,000).
FISCALIIMPACT
This a tion will result in a decrease in the General Fund Unappropriated balance of
$800 i order for the City to obtain monthly sales from the potential annexation
starti g in July 1982. If the annexation vote is unsuccessful, the $800 appropriated
will n t be spent.
