Street and Third Avenue

Thi d Avenue and "H" Street were widened in 1981 to adequately handle the
add tional traffic generated by the South Bay Regional Center (Court
Fac lity). In conjunction with these improvements parking was prohibited
alo g the west side of Third Avenue from "H" Street to "I" Street and along
"H" Street from 100' west of Garrett Avenue to 250' east of Third Avenue.
Thee parking restrictions have been in effect for eight months and are
fun tinning as intended. It is my
RECOMMENDATION: That Council adopt this resolution establishing parking
res rictions on Third Avenue and "H" Street.
BOA /COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: The Safety Commission voted 5-0 on
May 13, 1982, to recommend that these trial traffic regulations be made
~e anent.
DISCUSSION:
The following trial traffic regulations have been in effect since
Oct ber 1, 1982.
SCHEDULE III - PARKING PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES ON CERTAIN STREETS

The parking restriction on "H" Street was installed to provide for dual left
tur lanes at the Third Avenue traffic signal. The parking along the west
sid of Third Avenue was eliminated to provide a southbound merge lane into
and out of the South Bay Regional Center.
