Resolution ~0~~ Urging Legislative Action to Reduce the Present
High Incidence of Major Traffic Accidents Involving Trucks on
Local Highways

The City Council has heretofore joined with the City of
Richmond in expressing its concern over the disproportionate
number of fatal and injury accidents on local highways in-
volving commercial trucks and has urged Legislative action
to be undertaken to mitigate such a serious condition.
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution

DISCUSSION:
After reviewing the written communication from the City
of Richmond, the City Council recognized the seriousness
of the problem involving commercial trucks and voted to
join with the City of Richmond and other cities in
seeking Legislative remedies both in the area of increased
enforcement and increased driver training to develop
driver skills to attempt to reduce the number of fatal
and injury accidents involving such vehicles.

tion to reduce the incidence of truck related traffic ac-
