This interconnect will maximize the efficiency of the signals. The interconnect will require the installation of a 1-1/2" conduit under the railroad "trolley trac s" at "E" Street. Therefore it is my RECO MENDATION: That Council approve the attached agreement with the an Diego & Arizona Eastern Transportation Company for the cons ruction of the 1-1/2" interconnect conduit. /COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DI SCtUSS ION In t e 1980 traffic signal priority list, the intersection of "E" Stre t/Woodlawn Avenue warranted a traffic signal. This traffic sign 1 was approved and budgeted for construction in the 1980.-g1 budg t. The final traffic signal design includes a 1-1/2" interconnect cond it along the south side of "E" Street from Woodlawn Avenue to the Cal trans traffic signals at the I-5 Freeway. This interconnect will provide for progression along "E" Street and ailroad pre-em ption at Woodlawn Avenue/"E" Street. The atta hed agreement with the San Diego & Arizona Eastern Tran portation Company will allow the construction of the inte connect conduit under the railroad "trolley tracks" at "E" Stree and through their right-of-way.
