NO X ) On tober 17, 1978, Council approved an agreement between the City and San Diego Coun y providing for the City to operate a South Bay Senior Information and Referral Cent r for an eight month period between November 6, 1978 and June 30, 1979. Partial fund'ng for the Referral Center was provided by a Grant of $17,500 from the County Area Agency on Aging (AAA). The remainder of the Center's $26,960 budget was pro- vid by the City from Community Development Block Grant Funds and In-Kind-Services. The is pleased with the services provided by the South Bay Center and has proposed that the agreement to operate the Center be extended for a one year period beginning July 1, 1979, (see attached agreement). A $27,~f0 AAA Grant is available for operation of t e Center . A de ailed budget for the Center will be part of the Parks and Recreation Department's 1979 0 annual budget request. In essence, the total estimated budget is $42,950. Rev ue to support the program is proposed from the following sources: AAA Grant $27,560 Community Development Block Grant Funds 10,550 In-Kind-Services* 4,840 $42,950 *Note: The In-Kind-Services axe supervisory and clerical services budgeted in other Parks and Recreation activities. These services meet the Grant requirement for the Grantee to provide a matching 15% of the Grant Funds, The outh Bay Information and Referral Center is providing South Bay Seniors an ess tial service. Accordingly, staff recommends approval of the agreement tip extend the ervice Center for another year. The Center averages 600 inquires and service req sts each month. Link-up assistance is provided for the seniors through service pr~ '~ers in~the areas of legal, hospital release, transportation, in-home care, jobs n ress r uct ion .
