RECOMMF~NDATIONa That Council:

Fourth Avenue resurfacing Account No. 250- 2501-GT-106C.
2. Accept bids and ?ward contract to R, E. Hazard Contracting
Company in the amount of $48,89fi.12.
BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable.
DISCUS~IIION
Bids w$re received from five contractors as follows
1. R.E. Hazard Contracting Co . , $48, 896.12
San Diego
2. Daley Corporation, San Diego 50,904.00
3. Asphalt, Inc., El Cajon 53,732.00
4. Griffith Company, San Diego 55,560.00
5. Southland Sealing & Striping , 58, 921.38
Escondido
The lo~ bid submitted by R.E. Hazard Contracting Company is below the
engine is estimate of $49,4.90 by 5593 88 or 1%.
The am unt for contingencies for this project is only $103.88. The
reason for such a low contingency amount as compared to the normal 10%
amount are as follows
1. The total amount appropriated for the project was $49,000.
Any greater contingency amount would require an additional
appropriation.
2. I believe that this amount will be enough because we will be
r^~ using Ultra. Pave in this overlay project and may receive a
_I cost savings due to a lighter mixture just as we did on the
street overlay project discussed earlier in the agenda.
We have reviewed the low bid and find it to be acceptable.
A transparency is available for Council viewing.
