Counc 1 by Resolution 9798 dated October 9, 1979, awarded the contract
to Da ey Corporation for the Street Overlay Program 1979-80 for various
stree s within the City. This work is now completed. It is my
RECOM ENDATION: That Council adopt resolution accepting public
impro ements .

DISCUSSION:
DaleylCorporation has completed the overlay of various streets in the
City c~f Chula Vista in accordance with the plans and specifications. A
final inspection was made on January 31, 1980, and all work has been
compl ted to the satisfaction of the City Engineer. It is now
appro riate to accept the contract work.
There was a significant difference between the contract amount and the
final construction cost. The major reason for the difference was the
weig h per cubic foot for asphalt concrete as compared to that estimated
by th Engineering staff. This could be due to the type of aggregate
used nd could be attributed to the Ultra Pave latex that was added to
the m x. Therefore, the total tonnage that was used for the project was
less ~han anticipated.
