RESOLUTION: ~~~~ Amending Resolution 9639 which establishes Executive and
Middle Panagement Fringe Benefits

Each year the City Council adopts certai resolutions establishing fringe benefits for
executive and middle management employees. Through the year changes in classifications
assigned to these groups and/or changes in fringe benefits can occur. Recently, a change
was made in the classification of Purchasing Agent and a new position, Director of Public
Safety was created. Therefore, it is my
RECOMMENDATION: That Council:
1. Amend Resolution 9639 by moving the classification of Purchasing Agent from the
executive group and placing it in the middle management group.
~. Amend Resolution 9639 by adding to the executive group the classification of
Director of Public Safety (UC).
~. Amend Resolution 9639 by adding thereto number "10" under middle management
group benefits specifying that the incumbent in the classification of Purchasing
Agent will continue to receive top management benefits as long as he fills that
position.
4. Amend Resolution 9639 by adding thereto the classification of Principal
Community Development Specialist, Range 38.9 ($1624-$1976), effective 9/10/79.

DISCU SION
The four recommendations above are being made to update the resolution which establishes
fringe benefits for executive and middle management groups. The update is required
becau$e of the recent organizational changes in Public Safety and the Finance Department.
They reflect the creation of the new position, Director of Public Safety and the merger
of Purchasing into Finance.
The addition of Principal Community Development Specialist reflects a classification
study done by the Personnel Department in July 1979.
