Amendment to License
of Chula Vista for the

SUBMITTED BY:
REVIEWED BY:
City Manager ~ G ~~ (4/5ths Vote: Yes No X )
The License Agreement between the City of Chula Vista and San Diego Gas &
Electric Company to use SDG&E property for a parking lot in Rienstra Sports
Complex was authorized by Resolution #10863 in 1982. This license expired and
needs to be renewed.
RECOMMENDATION: That Council adopt resolution and authorize the Mayor to
sign the 1st Amendment to the License Agreement.
BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable.
DISCUSSION:
A portion of the Rienstra Sports Complex's parking lot lies in the SDG&E
easement. In 1982, the City entered into a License Agreement with SDG&E to
use the property for a paved parking lot. The initial license agreement
expired in May, 1987, and the City needs to amend the original agreement.
SDG&E has proposed retroactively extending the original license agreement from
May 1, 1987 to April 30, 1989. At the conclusion of this amendment, the City
will be required to renegotiate a new agreement.
The existing agreement requires the City to pay $10.00 a year rent plus any
possessory taxes levied on the property.
FISCAL IMPACT: The City is required to pay $10.00 a year rent plus
possessory taxes of approximately $330.
