REVIEWED BY: City Manage. (4/5ths Vote: Yes X No )
On November 3, 1987, Council by Resolution No. 13314 awarded a contract for
wood floor repairs and floor refinishing to Clough Flooring Company of E1
Cajon, CA. The contract work is now complete.
RECOMMENDATION: That Council approve the resolution accepting the contract
work.
BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable.
DISCUSSION:
On May 31, 1988, Clough Flooring completed the original flooring contract
signed on November 3, 1987. The completion of the flooring project was
delayed approximately 45 working days due to extensive slab settlement and
soil erosion. Structural and soils engineering firms studied the settlement,
specified repair procedures and recommended solutions to correct improper
drainage at the site. These recommendations are now being incorporated into
the Memorial Park Construction, Phase I, currently in design.
Phase II of this project which was the actual slab repairs and recompaction of
underslab soils was approved by Council Resolution No. 13446 on February 2,
1988. This phase was completed to the satisfaction of soils engineers and
City staff on March 15, 1988. This phase of the project involved the
demolition of over 1,300 sq. ft. of concrete, excavation and recompaction of
over 400 yards of fill and forming a new concrete pad on the northwest corner
of the gymnasium.
Both phases are now complete and the gym is open to the public. A final
walk-through of the project was held on May 31, 1988, and all work is in
accordance with contract specifications and to the satisfaction of the
Building Maintenance Superintendent and the Director of Parks and Recreation.
