On December 15, 1987, the City Council by Resolution No. 13395 awarded a
contract in the amount of $127,355.48 (including contingencies) for the
construction of sidewalk ramps, missing sidewalk and sidewalk rehabilitation
(1987-88 program) to Roca Construction, Inc. The work, which was CDBG-funded,
is now completed.
The work was done for less than the contract amount. However, funds allocated
for staff costs have been exceeded by $2,102.96 to cover the actual
expenditure (see Financial Statement). Surplus CDBG funds are available for
• transfer to this project to make up the shortfall.
RECOMMENDATION: That Council adopt a resolution accepting contract work and
authorizing the transfer of $2,102.96 of surplus CDBG funds to cover staff
costs.
BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable.
DISCUSSION:
On March 18, 1988, Roca Construction, Inc., completed work on "the
construction of sidewalk ramps, missing sidewalk, and the 1987-88 sidewalk
rehabilitation program" contract. This contract consisted of three separate
projects:
a) Construction of sidewalk ramps - 40 ramps were constructed at various
locations throughout the City at a cost of $39,340.34.
b) Installation of missing sidewalk - sidewalk was installed on the
south side of Orange Avenue between Second Avenue and Albany Avenue
at a cost of $69,307.96.
c) 1987-88 Sidewalk Rehabilitation Program - sidewalk was reconstructed
on the north side of Naples Street from Colorado Avenue to Oaklawn
Avenue at a cost of $14,610.14.
