for uniform rental anod cleaning service

Bids were received and opened at 3:00 p.m. on March 21, 1988, in the Public
Service Building Conference Room 1 for furnishing uniform rental and cleaning
service for a 30-month period. The current contract expires April 14, 1988.
RECOMMENDATION: That Council adopt resolution awarding contract to Mission
Uniform and Linen.
BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable.
DISCUSSION:
Bids were advertised and mailed to prospective vendors with five bids received.

The Council-approved CVEA Memorandum of Understanding provides uniforms to be
furnished and maintained by the City for certain classifications. There are
approximately one hundred permanent employees covered by the MOU that will be
furnished uniforms. Five changes per week will be made available to the
employee. The mechanics in Equipment Maintenance have the option of uniforms
or coveralls.
• The bid of Mission Uniform and Linen meets specifications and is acceptable.
FISCAL IMPACT: Estimated annual cost for uniform service is $17,680. Funds
are budgeted in the appropriate departments to cover this cost.
