(4/5ths Vote: Yes No X ) Pursuant to the provisions of Section 10.12.030 of the Chula Vista Municipal Code adopted by Ordinance No. 1625 on May 27, 1975, a trial traffic regulation was instituted on April 22, 1987, installing a two hour parking zone on the west side of Broadway beginning at the southerly PCR of Seavale Street and extending to a point 50 feet south of the southerly PCR of Seavale Street. This regulation has been in effect for eight months. RECOMMENDATION: That Council adopt this resolution to make this trial traffic regulation permanent. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. • DISCUSSION: On April 22, 1987, a trial traffic regulation (attached) was established for two hour parking on the west side of Broadway from Seavale to 50 feet south of Seavale. This restriction was established in response to a request from the owner of Chula Vista Blueprint. The owner of this business complained that vehicles were being left parked in front of his store for long periods of time. Since his business depends on the dropping off and the picking up of materials, he requested that short term parking be made available. According to Section 10.12.030 of the Chula Vista ~+lunicipal Code, a trial traffic regulation ceases to be effective if a resolution embodying that regulation, or any part of it, is not approved after the eight month trial period. Therefore, it is staff's recommendation that this Trial Traffic Regulation be made permanent by the adoption of this resolution. FISCAL IMPACT: None.
