traffic signal controllers

One bid was received and opened at 3:00 p.m. on January 4, 1988, in the Office
of the Purchasing Agent for the purchase of five (5) traffic signal
controllers and cabinets.
RECOMMENDATION: That Council adopt resolution awarding contract to Safetran
Traffic Systems, Inc.

DISCUSSION:
Bids were advertised and mailed to prospective vendors with only one bid
received.

Signal Sales Co. didn't respond due to the fact that they had employees on
vacation during the holidays. Traconex Inc. moved their }offices „from J+anta

that they will continue bidding on our future requirements.
The last bid for traffic controllers was in May 1987. At that time, the three
companies listed above bid on nine traffic controllers and cabinetU44W76h

Their bid this time on five is at a unit price of $6,539.78 or an 8% unit
price increase.
The c;ty will require delivery of the first traffic signal controller by
February 19 for installation at "H" Street and Buena Vista. The price bid for
the quantity desired is reasonable, therefore, it is recommended that the bid
be a~~~arded to Safetran Systems`, Inc.
FISCAL IMPACT: The total cost is $32,698.88. Funds are provided for in the
• Capital Improvement Projects Budget.
