Meeting Date 11/10/87
ITEM TITLE: Resolution ~~ ~~v~ Accepting Grant of Real Property for
Open Space Purposes in Lot 189 of Chula Vista Tract No. 86-3
Unit No. 3 G~
SUBMITTED BY: Director of Public Works
Director of Parks and Recreation daz,/~lti(
REVIEWED BY: City Manager (4/5ths Vote: Yes No X )
An area along Trail Ridge Drive in Bonita Long Canyon does not have direct
access to the open space trail system. The lots located on that street are
designated equestrian lots in the Bonita Long Canyon Specific Plan, and it is
expected that several of the homeowners will own horses and desire access to
the system. The developer has requested that the City accept a grant deed
across Lot 189 in order to gain access to the open space area from the street.
RECOMMENDATION: That City Council adopt a resolution accepting the subject
property.
• BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable.
DISCUSSION:
On December 17, 1985, by Resolution 12285, the City Council approved the
Tentative Subdivision Map for Chula Vista Tract No. 86-3, Bonita Long Canyon
Units 2 to 7 and on August 26, 1986, by Resolution 12690, approved the Final
Map for Bonita Long Canyon Unit 3.
Recently, Bonita Long Canyon partnership has proposed to grant to the City a
12-foot strip of land for open space and other public purposes, along the
westerly property line of Lot 189 of Bonita Long Canyon, Unit 3. The
intention of this proposal is to provide the property owners in the immediate
area with an adequate access to the equestrian trail system located to the
north, in open space Lot "G" of Bonita Long Canyon Unit 3.
The property will not be planted or irrigated. The surface will be decomposed
granite and/or natural earth to provide a riding surface. The property will
be maintained as a part of the open space contract for Open Space District No.
14 (Bonita Long Canyon Open Space District).
The document granting the property has been executed by the owner and
submitted to the Engineering Department. It has been found satisfactory and
is now ready for acceptance by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT: Not applicable.
