Chula Vista Jr. High School ~iJn/the City of Chula Vista
SUBMITTED BY: Director of Public Works I~~`
REVIEWED BY: City Manager (4/5ths Vote: Yes _No X )
On April 28, 1987, the City Council by Resolution No. 13303 awarded a contract
to Overson Rand Enterprises for the construction of the "G" Street and Fifth
Avenue storm drain system adjacent to Chula Vista Junior High School.
RECOMMENDATION: That Council adopt a resolution accepting contract work.
BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable.
DISCUSSION:
Overson Rand Enterprises completed the construction of the "G" Street and
Fifth Avenue storm drain system adjacent to Chula Vista Junior High School on
October 15, 1987. All work was completed in accordance with the contract
• plans and specifications and to the satisfaction of the City Engineer.
It should be mentioned that this project was approved by the City Council in
the FY 1984-85 Capital Improvement Program. The project was intended to
alleviate flooding at the Chula Vista Junior High School campus and the Fifth
Avenue/"G" Street intersection. It was intended to be a joint storm drain
system improvement between the City and the Sweetwater Union High School
District. Unfortunately, because of funding difficulties, the School District
was unable to construct their share of the project. To construct our share,
however, we had to design the entire system. To cover part of the additional
staff costs, we propose to utilize the project's available construction funds
($20,319.76). The financial statement table below shows the fund expenditure
for this project.
