A selection committee comprised of members of the Parks and Recreation Department and the Building Maintenance Superintendent interviewed six firms and selected Visions. Staff is recommending the selection of Visions because of its experience in the design/redesign of senior centers and its competitive fee. RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council adopt the resolution approving an agreement with Visions for development of design plans for Norman Park Center. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. • DISCUSSION: Attached to the resolution is a copy of the proposed agreement with the firm. The Architect will conduct a site analysis, interview staff, and prepare schematic design plans. Analysis and design studies will encompass the kitchen facilities, restrooms, office, meeting rooms, air conditioning system, exterior, interior design, lighting and expansion of the center to accommodate Senior Information and Referral Services and additional classrooms and meeting rooms. The proposed fee for this phase of the work is $16,520 plus $1,000 for reimbursable expenses and $6,000 for soils report and topographic survey, if needed. This phase will be completed by January 12, 1988. If Council accepts the schematic design, a separate agreement will be negotiated with the firm for the development of construction documents and bid specifications, bid review and construction administration. FISCAL IMPACT: The City has approximately $386,000 available for the design and construction of improvements to Norman Park Center.
