HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Statement 1987/10/13 Item 13COUNCIL AGENDA STATEMENT • I tem 13 Meeting Date 10/13/87 ITEM TITLE: Resolution~~~ 7_j Accepting contract work 980 Zone Pump Station (Eastlake Assessment District 85-2 - Contract II) in the City of Chula Vista G~ SUBMITTED BY: Director of Public Works/City Engineer REVIEWED BY: City Managers (4/5ths Vote: Yes No X On April 18, 1986, the City Council by Resolution No. 12442 awarded a contract to Olson Construction Co. for the construction of the 980 Zone pump station (Eastlake Assessment District 85-2). This contract was one of four awarded (to other contractors) to install water infrastructure needed to serve the Eastlake Planned Unit Development Project. The work is now completed. RECOMMENDATION: That Council approve a resolution accepting the contract. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: • In late 1986 and early 1987, the City Council awarded four contracts for the construction of the water improvement infrastructure needed to serve the Eastlake Planned Development. The contracts are: 1. Phase 1, 5 Mg Steel Reservoir, Trusco Co., Contractor, awarded December 17, 1986 by Resolution No. 12292. 2. Phase 2, 980 Zone Pump Station, Olson Construction Co., Contractor, awarded April 18, 1986 by Resolution No. 12442. 3. Phase 3A, Construction of Otay Lakes Road, sewer and water lines and all appurtenances, Olson Construction Co., Contractor, awarded May 13, 1986 by Resolution No. 12471. 4. Phase 36, 20-inch off-site water pipeline, Thibodo Construction Co., Contractor, awarded May 13, 1986 by Resolution No. 12471. Contracts 1, 3, and 4 were accepted by the City Council on August 25, 1987. At that meeting, Council extended the pump station contract to October 6, 1987, to provide sufficient time for the completion of extra work required by the Otay Water District, the ultimate owner and operator of the facility. • Page 2, Item • Meeting Date 0 13 7 Olson Construction Co, completed all the work to the satisfaction of the Otay Water District on September 25, 1987. The District has recommended, therefore, that the City Council accept the contract. FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Authorized Expenditures Olson Construction Co. ($988,500 + contingencies) $1,087,350.00 Final Expenditure Olson Construction Co. $1,057,918.50 Balance of Authorized Expenditure $ 29,431.50 Note: Staff will return, at a future date, with a complete accounting of the expenditures associated with the Eastlake Assessment District 85-2. These costs include construction, Otay Water District and City staff expenditures, as well as other administrative expenses. FISCAL IMPACT: None.
