This contract would replace the March 1, 1980 contract under hich our Data Processing Division has been providing data processing services to he City of Coronado. ECOMP~ENDATION: That Council: 1. Adopt the resolution approving the agreement. OARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applica~le. ISCUSSION he major change in the proposed new contract is the addition of computer programming ervices to the data processing services provided to the City of Coronado. Under he contract, the City of Chula Vista will provide six months of computer programming ime to the City of Coronado during FY 19F1-82. For this programming service, the ity of Coronado will pay Chula Vista $1',000, in addition to the payments for egular computer operations services. the contract also increases the data entry omponent of the computer operations c!~arges from $9.00/hour to $10.00/hour. oronado is currently receiving the following batch computer operation se~•vices: auto- ated accounting, business licenses, and land use inventory. Payroll operations are n the process of being implemented. With the additional programming services, oronado anticipates changing most of these systems to on-line as well as adding some ew systems. he new contract would be effective for an indefinite period. The contract includes rovisions for administratively adjusting the rates of charge without the necessity of ormally changing the contract. will be returning to Council in about a month with an agenda statement discussing he Data Processing Division's overall contractual operations and addressing some elated policy issues. ISCAL IP4PACT f the proposed contract is approved, the total revenue from Coronado during the urrent fiscal year should exceed $30,000: $18,000 for programming services and ver $12,000 for computer operations. In future years, the computer operations revenue hould increase because of new systems being added as a result of the programming services rovided to Coronado. rm A-113 (Rev. 11/79) Page Two, Ttem 12 Meeting Date 9/8/31 roviding the programming services to Coronado has required the filling of a budgeted omputer Programmer position that had been administratively frozen. The annual E-step alary and benefit cost of a Computer Programmer is approximately $26,800, so the ost of this position for the remainder of the fiscal year is approximately $22,400. n addition to the revenue from Coronado, however, I anticipate that programming harges will also be made to some of our other data processing customers. us, this contract should provide net revenue considerably in excess of the $7,600 figure t~.ined in simply subtracting the $?_2,400 maximum direct cost from the $30,000 minimum venue. The net revenue constitutes Coronado's share of the fixed costs of the to Processing Division. :lm b,; t~~ Ci~:~y~ C'..,~.a~~~,i of ~~i~ ~~~~
