It is my RECOMMENDATION: That Council adopt the resolution approving Change Order 10. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: N/A DISCUSSION: This change order may be broken into three categories as follows: 1. Field changes in removal and replacement of asphalt concrete pavement and related earthwork. At the intersections of "I" and "J" Street the existing 20 foot wide center section was extended to remain in place during construction of Phase II of the project. The extension provided for more quality control of vehicular traffic through the intersection and, as agreed to by the design engineer, did not jeopardize the integrity of the project. This resulted in a savings of asphalt pavement and earthwork removal of $814.93. 2. Daley Corporation is the apparent successful bidder, to the County, for the street im provem ents at the Regional Center. Recommendation for award will be made on August 25, 1981. Because of this, we are able to delete from the contract Item 16 which is the A.C. berm. This will be a savings of contract cost of $4,140.00. 3. This category, in effect, removes the 1/4 mile limitations for progress of work in Phase III. Phase III is the construction of curbs, g utters, sidewalk and pavement along the west side between "G" and "K". Specifically required was that Third Avenue between "H" and "I" will be done as the last 1/4 mile segment, unless the work can be coordinated with the construction of improvements for the Regional Center. At this time all of the curbs and sidewalks, driveways and other concrete work is completed in Phase III except for the Regional Center. By rem owing the 1/4 mile limitation restriction, Daley will be able to coordinate his work schedule with the County 1 Form A-113 (Rev. 11/79) r '. , Page 2, Item 6 Meeting Date 8-25-81 im provements as well as expedite the progress of the remaining work consisting of pavement rem oval, excavation to subgrade, placing base material and paving. The results will be more beneficial to the majority of property o wners and provide a shorter period of construction. Daley has agreed that the savings in time, approximately 7 to 10 days, and efficient use of men and equipment will be a substantial saving s. Daley has agreed to a decrease in contract cost of $3,500.00 for this relief.
