ITEM TITLE: Resolution / bS~Approving fourth amendment to an agreement with San Diego
Unified Port District for maintenance of "J" Street Maxima

By Resolution No. 10154, Council approved the third amendment to an agreement with the San
Diego Unified Port District, whereby the City provided maintenance services at the "J"
Street Marina during fiscal year 1980-81.
A provision in the basic agreement allows an agreement extension upon mutual consent of
~ both parties. A proposed extension for fiscal year 1981-82 has been prepared by the Pbrt
District and City staffs for ratification by the Port Commission and the City Council.
The amended agreement includes an additional maintenance area, with the Port District pro-
viding funds to cover the cost of maintaining the expanded area. Otherwise, the agreement
contains the same elements as prior years' agreements with the Port District anti covers
all costs associated with maintenance of the "J" Street Marina.

RECOIIM~ATION: That Council approve a fourth amendment to the agreement between the City
and Port District and authorize the Mayor to execute said agreement.

DISCUSSION
Included as an exhibit is a proposed fourth amendment to the "J" Street Maxima maintenance
agreement that changes the dates and adjusts costs to reflect inflation. Approximately
five acres of landscaping have been added to the "J" Street Marina by the Port District
for the upcoming fiscal year. This new area will require an additional Maintenance Gar-
dener, a pickup truck, a lawn mower and a Back Pac blower.
The proposed agreement also includes funds for the City to purchase the lawn mower, Back
Pac Blower and the additional supplies required to maintain the expanded area. The Port
District will furnish the pickup truck.
FISCAL IMPACT
'lie agreement provides for payment by the San Diego Unified Port District for all City
maintenance expenses in an amount not to exceed $55,460. Payment is to be made quarterly
on July 1, 1981; October 1, 1981; January 1, 1982; and April 1, 1982.
