ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW The Environmental Review Coordinator has reviewed the proposed actIvIty for compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and has determined that there is no possibility that the activity may have a significant etfect on the environment because the activity is only the acceptance of a grant; therefore, pursuant to Section 15061(b)(3) of the State CEQA Guidelines the activity is not subject to CEQA. Thus, no environmental review is necessary. RECOMMENDATION That Council adopts the resolution. BOARDS/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION Not Applicable DISCUSSION The Chula Vista Public Library has been awarded a one-time grant in the amount of $9,600 from the County of San Diego-Community Enhancement Program. The 3-1 NOVEMBER 9, 2010, Item~ Page 2 01'2 Community Enhancement program funds cultural aCllVllles, museums, visitor and convention bureaus, economic development at the regional and community levels throughout San Diego County, this grant is awarded annually, The Chula Vista Heritage Museum has funded three exhibits in previous years through the same program, The Fiscal Year 2010/20 II award will allow the Library to open a new exhibit in the Heritage Museum that will chronicle one hundred years of history of the City of Chula Vista. Through the extensive use of large reproductions of photographs from the Chula Vista Public Library's local history collection and information boards, the exhibit will illustrate the development of the City, its people, and historic events, The opening of the exhibit will be celebrated in June 20 II with a musical performance, In addition a photography contest open to all ages will invite participants to both capture the images of today and record the city's history of tomorrow. It is anticipated that residents of Chula Vista, local authors and researchers, schoolchildren and visitors to Chula Vista will learn about 100 years of the city's history. The exhibit will be housed in the Chula Vista Heritage Museum for one year. The Chula Vista Heritage Museum is open three afternoons a week, Admission is free, DECISION MAKER CONFLICT Staff has reviewed the property holdings of the City Council and has found no property holdings within 500 feet of the boundaries of the property which is the subject of this action. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista docs hereby amend the fiscal year 2010/2011 Library Department budget by appropriating one-time grant revenue in the amount of $9,600 for the Chula Vista Heritage Museum Centennial Exhibit.
