RE: Bio and application for the Boards & Commission ratifications
The below individuals have been recommended for appointment to a City Board or
Commission. The ratifications are scheduled for the October 12, 2010 Council meeting.
Attached are copies of their applications and below is additional background
information.
Board of Library Trustees:
Elva Mellor has been a resident of Chula Vista for the past 26 years. Elva is a 15t
grade teacher at Hedenkamp elementary school and has been with the Chula Vista
Elementary School District for 24 years. Elva previously seared 8 years on the
International Friendship Commission, is a member of the City's Centennial Committee
of 100 and a graduate from the City's Citizen's Leadership Academy.
Charter Review Commission:
Carra Rhamy has been a resident of Chula Vista for the past eight years. She has
been employed by the County of San Diego for the past four years as a Senior Deputy
County Counsel. Carra specializes in employment law and does litigation work and has
previous legal experience working with City Charters. Carra is a member of the San
Diego Downtown Residents Group and a graduate from the City's Citizen's Leadership
Academy.
Design Review Board:
Rebecca Jenks previously resided in Chicago and moved to Chula Vista five years ago
with her husband. She is the Marketing and Project Manager for Graphic Solutions.
Rebecca is a member of the Third Avenue Village Association Design Review
Committee.
International Friendship Commission:
Hector Vanegas has been a resident of Chula Vista for the past 20 years. Hector has
been with SANDAL for the past 9 years as the Borders Program Manager. Prior to
SANDAL, for 10 years he worked as a Consul for the Consulate of Mexico. Hector is
married and has a five year old son. Hector is currently a board member with the South
County EDC and a board member with Children's Cancer Foundation.
Resource Conservation Commission:
Brett Davis has been a resident of Chula Vista for the past 44 years. He is Founder
and Owner of Brett Davis Nutrition. He is married and has three children. Brett is a
board member with the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce and a graduate of the City's
Citizen's Leadership Academy.
