DISCUSSION
The Project Safe Neighborhood Regional Gun Violence Suppression Project is a multi-
jurisdictional collaboration that includes law enforcement representatives from the
District Attorney's Office, Sheriffs Office, Probation Department, EI Cajon, La Mesa,
National City, San Diego and Chula Vista. This regional team will combat street gun and
gang violence in and around the communities of southeast San Diego. The team will
conduct a variety of undercover and uniformed law enforcement operations, to include
but not limited to surveillances, fourth waiver searches, probation and parole compliance
checks, and zero-tolerance saturation patrols. The Police Department will participate in
these operations on an overtime basis only, which will be fully reimbursed by the grant
funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance.
DECISION MAKER CONFLICT
Staff has reviewed the decision contemplated by this action and has determined that it is
not site specific and consequently the 500 foot rule found in California Code of
Regulations section 18704.2(a)(I) is not applicable to this decision.
CURRENT YEAR FISCAL IMP ACT
Approval of this resolution will result in the appropriation of $14,860 to the personnel
category of the Police Grant Fund. The grant funding from the Bureau of Justice
Assistance will fully offset these costs, resulting in no net fiscal impact to the General
Fund.
