HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2010-232RESOLUTION NO. 2010-232 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA APPROPRIATING $77,694 IN UNEXPENDED REVENUES FROM THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF RESOURCE RECYCLING AND RECOVERY (CAL- RECYCLE) USED OIL RECYCLING BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM FOR THE 15TH CYCLE AND AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2010/2011 WASTE MANAGEMENT AND RECYCLING BUDGET WHEREAS, the California Used Oil Enhancement Act (1999) (Act) requires the collection of four cents for every quart of lubricating oil sold, transferred and imported into California from oil manufacturers; and WHEREAS, Chula Vista consumers pay four cents per quart into the fund when they purchase oil; and WHEREAS, the Act mandates that the State of California, Department of Recycling Reuse and Recovery (CalRecycle -formally known as the California Integrated Waste Management Board) use a portion of the funds to provide block grants to local governments for used oil programs that encourage used oil and oil filter recycling; and WHEREAS, Chula Vista is the lead agency for the Regional Used Oil Recycling Program for the San Diego County cities of Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, National City, Lemon Grove, La Mesa, El Cajon and Santee. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby appropriate $77,694 in unexpended revenues awarded to the City of Chula Vista, as the lead agency for the Regional Oil Recycling Program, from the California Department of Resources, Recycling and Recovery's Used Motor Oil Recycling Block Grant Program for the 15th Cycle and amend the Fiscal Year 2010/2011 Waste Management and Recycling Fund by appropriating $25,000 to Personnel Services, $50,694 to Supplies and Services, and $2,000 to Other Expenses.
